Babies can learn and use simple hand gestures, or sign language, to communicate what they need, what they want or what they see as young as 5 months old.

As a mother of 2, I have personally used sign language with both of my children to help with communication. I have had great results using baby sign and it really cuts down on your toddlers frustration when they are able to express what they want.
